I have heard you in the wind - A Poem

I have heard you in the wind…

And I have seen you from afar…

You are going places…

Clad in the coolest clothes…

And living a life of liberty…

 

I have seen you on others’ arms…

Never looking my way…

When alone in coffee houses…

Reading trendy books thumbed on Washington Square…

 

You wear eyeliner…

And hang in bars and art galleries…

A Twenty First Century life…

That is just beyond my grip…

And just around the corner…

In a million taunting adverts…

 

But one day I will catch you…


And you will turn and smile and admit I have caught you…

 

…but then you laugh as the illusion shatters…

 

…and I have in my hands the broken dreams of media city and advert hill…

 

…and I don’t know whether to laugh or cry…

 

…as I search for another…
